NOT ALLOWED TO LAND.
MEN WITHOUT PASSPORTS.
Two young men, Vernon Hugh Carlton, 23 years of age, and Ernest Williams 20 years of age, who arrived at Auckland by the Navua on Tuesday, have not yet been allowed to land here, as they do not
possess passports. Carlton was a member of the crew of the steamer Suva, and missed his passage at Suva. On the Navu&'s previous trip he stowed aboard her at Suva, and was taken to Samoa, where he received a short term of imprisonment for the offence. When the Navua returned to Samoa he was put on board with a permit to land at Suva. As the man had no money he was not allowed to land. Williams stowed away on the Waikawa at Newcastle, and was landed at Samoa, where he also received a short term of imprisonment for the offence. He too was placed on the Navua with a permit to land'at Suva. He also was not allowed to land.
