TASMANIA'S PROSPECTS.
—♦ —, — DEAR LABOUR A HANDICAP, A. and N.Z. LONDON, March 20. Sir W. L. Allardyce, ex-Governor of Tasmania, has arrived. He said that Tasmania was a land of great opportunities, but needed population. A great handicap was the high cost of labour for clearing hoavily-timbered land awaiting development. This would cost so much that the value of the land was swallowed up in the cost of the clearing.
