COMING EXHIBITIONS.
News of the British tradeship which is to voyace to the Dominion with a travelling exhibition of Empire-made goods was received by the council of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday. The organisers wrote stating tSiat it was hoped the vessel would sail from Britain in the autumn of 1923 on her maiden trip. It was decided to support the scheme and apply to the pi'oper quarter for further information regarding details. The council also received through the town clerk, Mr. J. 8. Brigham, a copy of a communication received last week by the City Council from a firm in Britain giving particulars regarding the British Empire Exhibition to'be held at Wembley Park, London, next year. This stated that a guarantee fund of £1,000,000 had been raised, toward which the Imperial Government had contributed £100,000.
It was stilted further, that a Dominion | mission in connection with the exhibition was being undertaken. Headed by Major E. A. Belcher, this mission had loft London by the Kenilworth Castle in January, and would arrive in Wellington about June lfl. The members would visit Auckland, and would leave hero about July 26 by the Makura. An accompanying brochure Btuted that the scheme was a of that originated by Lord Strathcoma in 1913. The Imperial Government ha(i invited the overseas Dominions and colonies to participate in the exhibition.
It was decided to aak the New Zealand Government to get into touch with the Home authorities, with the view of having New Zealand products properly represented at the exhibition.
