TRIAL OF A PRIEST.

CHARGED WITH MURDER. INQUIRY INTO SANITY. A. and N.Z. MONTREAL, March 14. The trial of Father Delorme, who is charged with the murder of his halfbrother, has begun. The defence asked for an examination of the accused's sanity.

Counsel for the defence declared: " Our client is not in a fit mental condition to give the aid we need. He cannot help us in our investigation nor cross-examination. It is the Court's duty to adjourn t'he case and permit a preliminary examination by a doptor to verify our observations and impressions." The case was adjourned until next Tuesday. Father Delorme, who is a leading Roman Catholic priest, is charged wiin the murder of his half-brother, Raoul, aged 22. He is accused of having insured the life of the youth for £5000, and of killing him four days later. The body with six bullet holes was found in a snowdrift, where it had evidently been pitched from an automobile. Father Delorme is alleged to have influenced his brother during past years to draw up a favourable will, so that he could collect the insurance.
