THE BIBLE SOCIETY.

AN APPEAL FOR FUNDS.

COMMENDED BY PRESBYTERY

"The British and Foreign Bible Society is the Woolwich Arsenal of our faith," said Mr. P. J. Bodle, representing the Auckland Auxiliary of the society, when making an appeal last evening for sapport by Auckland Presbytery. He said that last year the society wa3 faced with a deficit of £25j000 or more. It had exhausted all. its reserves, and its report, just published, indicated that unless the income was extended by £75,000 the work would have to be curtailed. The local auxiliary was determined to increase its contributions to the society, and Mr. Bodle urged the presbytery to commend, the cause so that the society might be assisted in its great work. It was decided that ministers be asked

to commend the appeal to their congregations.
