LOCAL BODIES TO CONFER The necessity of taking some steps tc
improve the state of the main roads from Auckland to Papakura and Howick impelled the Manukau County Council yesterday to make arrangements for summoning a conference of representatives of local bodies in the intervening districts with a view to formulating a common policy as regards permanent repairs. This step has been taken largely owing to the doubtfulness of a Dominion mam highways scheme being carried through in the immediate future. i A letter was received from the Takanini Welfare League complaining of the cuidition of the Great South noad bei tteen Takanini and Manurewa.
