PONSONBY CLUB'S CAENIVAL. The Ponsonby Swimming Club's carnival and the Auckland harbour race which were to have been held on Saturday, but were postponed on account of the inclement weather, will now. take, place on Saturday, March 11 Much interest is being taken in the carnival, and especially in the harbour race from Northcote to the Shelly Bench baths, a distance of a little under a mile. Entries for all events, including the harbour race, will be received until Monday, March 6. PONSONBY SCHOOLS' CHAMPIONSHIPS The combined Ponsonby publio schools' swimming championships, which were postponed on Friday, will be decided at the P<josonbv Club'* hath 6 ito-day. commencing at 2 p.m Over 400 entries have been received, and pupils ranging in ages from 10 to 14 years and over will be competing, Mr. A. T Long has donated a shield to be won by the school gaining the most points. Tho programme comprises varied races for boys and girls, and in addition, a relay championship for boys and juniors, and diving, these events also counting for the r.hield points. The carnival is attracting wide interest, as large entries have been reoeived from children attending other Auckland sohools for the 100yd3 soratch .invitation races. The Ponsonby Swimming and Life-saving Club is. doing good work in the interests of its. diatnot, and a large sttendance .is anticipated at.the schools ohampionshipa. k l
