RETURNED SOLDIERS.
EXECUTIVE-OF ASSOCIATION. [bx telkqraph.—pnsss association.] WELLINGTON. Siturday. The quarterly meeting of the Dominiouexecutive of 'the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association opened this morning, Major-General Russell presiding. The membership return for the nine months ended December 31, 1921, was as follows:—Wellington, 5791; Auckland, 5759: Canterbury, 4748; Otago, 4651; Nelson and Marlborough, 948; Gisborne, 298 j total, 22,195. For the corresponding period of the previous year the total was 31,745.
The following Canterbury remit was passed: "That Imperial soldiers who as a result of war,disability become service hospital patients should, while awaiting the decision of the Imperial Government regarding their pensions, receive financial assistance from the National War Funds Council, suoli assistance to be repaid when the decision of the Imperial authorities is received." It was also decided to approach the British Empire Service League regarding reciprocity between the United Kingdom and New Zealand in these case/,
