DIED UNDER ANAESTHETIC.
-*- COLLAPSE AT THE HOSPITAL.
EVERY CARE EXERCISED.
An inquest touching the death of a young married woman, Mrs. Amelia Mary Allan, who died under an anaesthetic at the Auckland Hospital on Wednesday, was hold by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., yesterday. The evidence showed that an abdominal operation was commenced at about 12.15 p.m., and at 12.45, when the major portion of the operation was over, she collapsed. The usual restorative methods were applied, but were not effective. Deceased's husband stated that she had been attended by Dr. Share last Thursday week and again on Monday, when he advised that she be sent to the hospital. Dr. D. N. W. Murray, who had performed a post-mortem examination, stated that in his opinion death was due to fatty infiltration of the heart muscle, combined with a diseased valve.
The coroner said the evidence showed that the htfspital authorities had exercised even - care and skill in administering the anaesthetic and conducting the operation. He returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
