SANDERS CUP CONTEST.
"SCULLING" ALLEGED.
COMPLAINT FROM SOUTHLAND.
DID NOT CARE TO APPEAL.
[kv TELEOBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ]
INVEKCARGILL. Thursday.
Speaking at a reception to the Southland representatives in tho Sanders Cup races to-night, Mr. T. Bragg, one of tho most prominent membors, said they had expected to learn something from the Aucklandcrs, but all they had learned was how to scull from tho example set them by tho Desert Gold and the Heather in tho last race. All the competitors had been strictly warned against sculling, and tho judges had been only 20yds. away I when it took place, but nothing had been done. Even the spectators had called out to tho Auckland boat about what was going on, and an Aucklander answered, " Tho Otago boat started it." Thore was never a word about tho Murihiku, which had not descended to the infringement. If tho Southlanders had liked they could-probably have won on a protest, but they did not wish to take a mean advantage, especially as the judges took no action.
