CITY EQUITABLE COMPANY.

WINDING-UP ORDER MADE. United Service. LONDON, Feb. 14.

Urgent negotiations to save the City Equitable Insurance Company from liquidation have failed. The company's own winding-up petition was heard before the High Court to-day, when a compulsory winding-up order was made. Mr. Gerard Bevan, chairman, whose sudden disappearance astonished the city, has been traced as far as Paris, where he arrived from London by aeroplane.
