FAT LAMBS SACRIFICED.
SHORTAGE OF TRUCKS.
[BY TELECEAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. The increased prices of live stock which commenced first at Taumarunui two weeks ago brought an entry of 10,000 sheep to to-day's sale, in expectation of a further rise. There was a healthy sale for breeding ewes and fat wethers, but owing to p> shortage of railway trucks the bottom fell entirely out of the fat lamb market. Four hundred trucks were ordered two days ago, and 700 would have been required today. Thousands of fat lambs that could not be got away had to be put on the market and sacrificed. One buyer from the North, who came for 1000 fat lambs, was unable to procure trucks, and made no bid. Farmers are very angry over the matter.
