COMMENCEMENT ON MONDAY

WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Hie Acting-Minister for Railways, Hon. D. H. Guthrie, announces that in addition to the curtailment of the express services in the South Island it lias been decided to further reduce the services on the Auckland-Wellington line by withdrawing the second express trains which at present leave Wellington at 8.35 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and which leave Auckland at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The reduction will come into operation on Monday, a s in the case of the amended time-table in the South Island. j Mr. Guthrie stated that detailed infor- j raation with regard to the alterations in | the time-tables o» the branch lines in the ' South Island, rendered necessary by tho j amended express services, was not yet available, but it was anticipated that tho work would be completed within a day or two. |
