STOCKS AND SHARES.
Tho demand for the chief investment stocks was sustained on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. Grovernrnenl war loans woro again wanted, but there were no sellers in most lines- A sale c ; ' War Loan, 1938, was effected at £88 7s 6d. For tho 1930 issue buyers offered £91; for 1939 issue £87 lCs; and for 1927 issue, £92. Buyers quoted £94 for Soldiers' Loan Bonds. Soldiers' Loan (inscribed stock) had buyers at £94 10s, with sellers at £94 12s 6d. For New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1938, buyers quoted £88, holders asking £88 10s; 1939 issue was offered at £88 10s, with no buyers. In banks Australasias had buyers at £11, sellers £11 ss. Now South Wales were sold at £36 15s. New Zealands were wantod at 48s, sellers requiring 48s 3d. In insurances New Zealand sellers were asking 27s 6<!, buyers offering 275. Buyer s of South British raised their offer to 32s 9d, sellers being firm at 33s 6d. Standards sold at 52s 6d. Nationals had sellers at 60s. Auckland Gas (paid up) gold at 20s 9d. In miscellaneous lines sales of Milne and Choyce (debenture stock) were made at 20s, se'lers closing at 21s, buyers at 19s 6d. Wilsons Cements sold at 15s 2d. In mining Waihis were wanted at 18s. with sellers at 19s. Sollcis of Grand Junctions asked 6s lOd, buyers offering 'js 7d. The following sales took place : Bank of New South Wales, £35 15s ■ Standa'd Insurance. 52s 6d; Auckland Gas. 20s 9d; Napier Gas (pref.), £8: Milne and Choyce (debenture stock), 20s; Wilsons Cement, 15s 2d; War Loan 1938, £83 i 7s 6.1.
