WAIWERA BOWLING GREEN. A newly-formed bowling preen at Waiwera is highly spoken of by visitors who were at the resort during the Christmas »nd New Year holidays. The green, when the minor defects incidental to the first year's clay have been overcome, should be second to none outside of Auckland. It has been well patronised during the holidays, not only by devotees representing clubs as far afield as Te Kuiti, but also by » large numbor of novices. During New Year week a .singlos handioap tournament was played in two sections. The respective section winners were J. W. Tucker (Ponsonby Club) and Percy Thomson (Takapuua 71ub), and in the final the result was; Thomson, 21. v. Tutjkor, 14. TE AROHA NEW YEAR PAIRS. The final of the New Year Pair 4 match was played at Te Aroha on Friday, Pratt and Adamson. winners of seotion B, defeating Box and Pilkington, winners of section A, by 23 to 20. after one of tho most keenlyfought pairs matches seen on the local green. The-result was in doubt right to the last bowl.
