meeting of executive.
The annual meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Society of Mine Managers was held at Huntly last week, tho president, Mr. G. Smith, presiding. Delegates atteqded from Invercargill, Westport, Groymouth and Kuntly. It was stated that during the year tho society recoivod every consideration from the Mines Department, and several matters of minor importance had been satisfactorily adjusted, , A suggefltion that ih© Coal Mines Act and Regulations be consolidated, and that the council go carefully into i tho matter with the object of haying tHcm revised, was discussed at somo length, it being eventually decided to lay tho matter before tho Mines Department. Tho question o,f drawing timber with lever auo cham also gave rise to considerable discussion,* and it was finally agreed to leave tho matter in tlie hands of the executive, with power to »A ■■> , It was resolved that the executive committee's headquarters remain at Greymouth for another year.
