THE PRINCE AT BENARES.
BOYCOTT BY EXTREMISTS.
PROGRAMME CARRIED OUT.
UNIVERSITY OPENED. By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyrisht. (Received 12.30 a.m.) A. and N.Z. DELHI, Deo. 13. Although a boycott was proclaimed at Benares on the occasion of the Prince's visit, no attempt was made by agitators in any way to interfere with the programme. The chief function was the opening of the new Hindu University building, lumbers of students wearing Gandhist caps participated, but listened decorously, otherwise very few Indians were present. Large blocks of seats reserved for tho public were almost empty. All the shops in tho city were closed. The Prince was the guest of the Maha-, rajah of Benares, and attended a State luncheon. He visited places of interest round the city, and inspected the troops. He then left for Nepal for a week's shooting.
