[bx telegraph.—own correspondent.] TAtfRANGA. Wednesday. Tho district engineer to the Public Works Department, Mr. P. S. Dyson, has advised the Harbour Board that there is no objection to the department carrying out dredging works at the Town Wharf, provided it does not interfere in any way with the progress of the railway bridge. An estimate is being prepared of the oost of the work, and the board will be advised later of the approximate cost, also as to when the department can start the work. Interest in rowing matters is' now increasing. ?In view of the contests for the president's trophies first heats were rowed last evening, with the following results:— K Munro (atroke), 0. Haua, G. Riley, H. Valentine, G. Riley (cox), beat R. Lyon (stroke), E. Voice, H. Randall, H. White,, R. Walker. 0. Rao. (stroke), J. Book,; T. Carter, A. Bartrom, R. Walker (cox), beat C. Tonkin (stroke), H. Voice, H. Smith, H. Small, J. Trigg (cox). The Public Workß Department has advised the Tauranga County Council that authority has been issued for the expenditure of £1600 on /'the Kaimai Road namelv, £1000 (free) and £500 (£1 for £1).
