KING'S COLLEGE V. GRAMMAR. * FIRST DAY'S PLAY. The annual cricket match between Kind's College and Grammar Schoal was commenced at the Kcmuera Ground yesterday. Bain overnight and early morning made the wicket alow and easy, favouring the batsmen. Grammar won the toss and decided to tike first use of the wicket. Badeley and Reid opened the innings, and by Bound batting gave the school a good start. Euns came freely from both batainen. and the score was approaching tho century when Reid. who had played a free innings for 49 wu out leg before. Montcith, who hlied the vacancy, shared tho same fate early, but with the association of Goodacre and Badeley a fine partnership was set up. The Grammar captain played a splendid innings for 83, and Goodacre batted well for v(. The next, three wickets fell cheaply, but Watts (29), Seccombc (16), D. Reid 111), and Singleton I not out. 12) showed good form, and carried the score to '257 when the last wicket fell. Johnston was the most successful bowler for King's College, securing six wickets for 59 runs, Buckland taking three for 90. King's College made a bad start, but a fine innings of 57, not ont, by Backland, and a well-compiled 35 by Johnston, improved matters, and at the drawing of slumps King's had scored Iflfi for the loss of three wicketfl. THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association met last evening. Professor H. S. Dettmann presided. Messrs. A. G. Aitken, G. W. Browne, and H- Cotterall were appointed a Junior Advisory Committee, to bring before the Management Comrniltee any matter of interest lo junior players. The committee adhered to ite previous decision that no grade championship matches be played on Christmas Eve It was decided to play ah all-day match on Tuesday, December 27. between two oven teams picked from those' selected to practice in view of the forthcoming representative futures. Messrs. Johnston and Levien were appointed umpires for the representative match against Otago, subject to approval by the Otago Association. An application from the Tauranga Association for a match against an Auckland visiting team, to be played the day after Boxing Day, was received.
