PAENELL CLUB'S CARNIVAL. RECORD IN LADIES* RACE, The first carnival held, this season by the Parnell Amiteur Swimming Club took place at the Tepid Baths last evening, in the presence of a large number of spectators. The contests were keen and the finishes were warmly applauded. The result of chief interest was the*fast time put up by Miss P. Hoeft, in the first heat of the 60yds ladies' handicap, Starting on scratch. Miss Hoeft won the heat in 30 seconds, which is oile second faster than the record put up by Miss V. Walrond at Auckland last year. Though unofficial. Miss Hoeft's time is regarded as the fastest time for the ladies' 50yds race in New Zealand. In the final. Miss Hoeft tied with Miss E. Walrond for second place, the winner's time being S4e.. The inter-club 600 yds relay championship wa6 won by the Waitemata team, and the captain, Mr, J. Enright. was by the chairman of the Auckland centre, Mr. A. J. Fernandez, with the Tui Memorial Cup, donated by Mr. Bernard Goodman.
