. ilfi MOTOR LORRY V PARTS COMPANY WITH BODY, TERRITORIALS THROWN OUT [Br telegraph, press associates.] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday, A party of SO territorials and a civilian were returning to New Brighton from the Redcliffs rifle range in a Defence De partment motor-lorry, when the large box body became detached from the chassis throwing all tho men out. One had a wrist broken, and the civilian, W. Buck ' worth, who was riding on the lorry at his own risk, sustained a broken collarbone. At the moment of the mishap the lorry was rounding a corner. The men vfto were not provided with teats, swayed to one side, and the body parted company from the frame. Luckily the men were thrown on a patch of soft sand. If jt had been otherwise then would have been many casualties. Tho box body landed on the ground bot torn upwards, and by good fortune no one was pinned between its edgjea and the sand, but several were imprisoned under it. Indeed, the first filing that others noticed on picking themselves up, was the head of a comrade sticking out through' a hole in the floorboards. The, driver's seat was not involved, so that the lorrv ' went on for a few yards before it was; stopped. The lorry, which saw service in ths war, was found to have all the bolts holding the body to the chassis worn through. This wsj the cause of the accident.
