Whittaker, who left Auckland in May last, has arrived in London, and at present is staying with friends in th« North of England. He proposes visiting Paris at an early date. Mr. Justice Herd man will arriva Jjj Auckland next Wednesday to nreside ov«r the sessions of the Supreme '?ourt. Mj. Justice Adams will leave on the same day for Christchurch. Messrs, G. Harknees, H. D. Benaeit C. J. B. Norwood, and C. E. Daniel! have been appointed to represent the Welling ton Harbour Board at the conference of the Harbours Association in Wellington en October 19. Mr. R. P. Ward, who has been appointed registrar of the Auckland Supreme Court, in succession to Mr. A. Stubba, was farewelled by the Otago Law Society on Tuesday. On behalf of ths profession the president of the society. Mr. A. James, congratulated Mr. Ward on his promotion.
Dr. Edgar Whitaker has relinquished his ophthalmological practice at Palraerston North, and has returned to England to join the board of directors -,f J. Whitaker and Sons, Ltd., proprietors and publishers of Whitaker's Almanack, as business manager. He served in the South African war, and as a captain in tha Royal New Zealand Artillery in the late war.
