MORE RAIN YESTERDAY.
WINTRY CONDITIONS.
WEEK'S RAINFALL, 3.59LN.
Somewhat wintry conditions prevailed at Auckland yesterday. In spite of there being a light breeze from the northeast, the weather was remarkably cold. Following a dull, cloudy forenoon, rain began to fall about 2 p.m., and continued steadily until nearly 4 o'clock. More rain fell in the evening. The rainfall for the 24 hours ending midnight, as registered by the JEerauj gauge was .28in.J making the week's total 3.59 in. Since the dry spell was broken yesterday week, rain has fallen more or less every day since. The total rainfall for the month up to 9 a.m. yesterday, as registered in Albert Park by the official observer, Mr. P. A. F. Burnett, was 3.38 in., of that amount only .07in. fell during the first 16 days. The daily rainfall since the dry spell was broken on September 16 has been as follows, the figures being for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. on each date:—September 17, .92in.; September 18, .38in.; September 19, .08in.; September 20, 1.05 in.; September 21, .04in.; September 22, .82in. ; September 23, .02in.; total, 3.31 in. The barometer rose from 29.50 in. on Wednesday afternoon, to 30.05 in. at midnight on Thursday. It has shown very little movement since.
