ADVANCE OF WOOL PRICES.
REVIEW OF LONDON SALES. FIRM TONE AT CLOSE. A. and. N.Z. I/ONBON. Sept- 15. The wool sales closed very firm. The mixed catalogue series throughout .was marked by old-time competition and keenness in bidding. Continental buyers took a leading part, especially in Merinos and fiier crossbreds, with the home trade competing strongly, especially during the last few days. The tone throughout was confident and at times buoyant. Merinos maintained the opening advance with a hardening tone this week. Greasies closed 10 to 15 per cent, above July rates. Pieces, bellies, and faulties showed the greatest appreciation, and scoureds advanced 10 per cent. The strength of crossbreds developed throughout, and 'finer grades advanced 15 to 20 per cent. Medium and coarser met with a wider competition at an advance of 10 to 15 per cent. Slipes were 10 per cent, " higher. Lambs' wool was scarce, especially the better sorts, which were in strong demand at 10 per cent, advance. A total of 140,710 bales was catalogued, and practically all the offerings were sold. The Bradford market is active, and quotations are hardening.

HIGHEST RATES MAINTAINED A. and N-Z. MELBOURNE, Sept. 16. The final wool sale of the September series found competition keen and animated. Prices were practically on a par with the highest rates during the season.
