PLAGUE IN BRISBANE.
VESSELS AVOID PORT.
PRECAUTIONS AT SYDNEY. Australian and K.Z. Cable Association. (Becd. 11.30 jjqb.) SYDNEY, Sept. 18. Owing to the outbreak of plague at Brisbane a number of vessels are not calling at that port. All vessels arriving from Brisbane are carefully examined, down the harbour, and are fumigated after cargo has been discharged at the wharf. Mr. J. J. McGirr, Minister for Health, has announced the inauguration of a campaign against rats, and other precautions throughout New South Wales to combat plague outbreaks.
