POST OFFICE BUSINESS.
TOTAL REVENUE OF £702,419. FEWER TELEGRAMS SENT. [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. A return published in the Gazette shows the revenue collected by the Post and Telegraph Department during the June quarter. The postal revenue was £360,159, compared with £274,533 in the June quarter of last year. The telegraph revenue totalled £342,260, compared with £279,064 in the June quarter of last year. Press telegrams showed a reduction hi the number sent from 90,996 to 88,271, but an increase in the amount received from £7275 to £9914. As a, whole, telegrams sent decreased from 3,111,983 to 3,079,799, but the revenue for them increased from £151,581 to £167,953. The telegraph revenue includes £173,457 in the June quarter of 1921, and £126,895 in the June quarter of 1920, for telephone exchanges, besides minor items. The total postal and telegraph revenues for the chief centres are shown as follow: —Wellington, £179,701; Auckland] £149,137 Christchurch, £97,212j Dunedin £39,653.
