THE LEAGUE ASSEMBLY.
AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATION MR. HUGHES UNABLE TO ATTEND. A. *nd LONDON. July 26. Mr. Hughes and Mrs. Hughes were the guests of the Prince of Wales at luncheon at York House to-day, and to-night they attended a dinner given by the London Chamber of Commerce at Connaught rooms, the Prince being the guest of the evening. Mr. Hughes did not speak. It is not certain yet whether Australia will be represented at the League of Nations Assembly at Geneva in September. Mr. Hughes certainly will not attend, but may appoint a deputy. Questioned to-day, he replied that he had not made up his mind, but he would probably visit France on August 11 to settle the New Hebrides question on the lines already indicated, to make a presentation to the Amiens Cathedral, and to discuss commercial matters with the French Government.
