BERESFORD WINS ON FOUL. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed- 9.30 p.m.) LONDON. July 25. The Wingfield Sculls and the amateur championship of the Thames were won by J. Beresford, jun. The race was rowed from Putney to Mortlake. Halfway through, D. H. L. Gollan, of the Leander Club, fouled Beresford's boat, which was severely damaged and finished waterlogged. Gollan finished first in 24min. 435., but the race was awarded to Beresford on a foul. Beresford's time was 26min. 255. J. Beresford, who is only 22 years of age, won the Wingfield Sculls last year, his time being 23min. 14s. The length of the course is 4£ miles.
