EARLY MORNING INCIDENT.
| ALLEGATION OF THEFT. | PECULIAR CIRCUMSTANCES.[by telecilaph.—pbess association.] TIMAHU, Thursday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Nod Ashton, aged 19 years, was committed for trial charged with breaking and entering and theft. The circumstances were peculiar. The accused was charged that between o and 4 a.m. he broke the windov of a girl's bedroom and tried to drag her through the window, the bed foiing close to the window. He then pulled out a sheet and two blankets, which he carried a few cliains, and hid in a fence. It was further alleged that he returned to the house and, meeting the mother of the girl, knocked her down. Male neighbours who had been alarmed then captured him and gave him in custody. Defence wag reserved. When arrested the accused denied aJJ knowledge of the broken window.'
