WEDDING EVE CRIME.
A VALUELESS CHEQUE.
SCHOOL TEACHER'S LAPSE[E* TELECiBAPH.— PRESS ASSOCXAUOjr.J TlifABU. Tharsday. Eric R. Jackson, a young man, wha was lattfty a school teacher at Kakaho, pleaded guilty today to a chaj-ga of issuing a valueless cheque, and was com. mitted for sentence. He owed C- G Snow, tailor, £9 for goods (including 3 Master of Arts robe), and tendered a cheque for £37. He received change, and said he was to be married the next morning and needed the cash before thra oanks opened. (He was married tha next day). The informant got back his goods and the wife returned to a jeweller a diamond ring and received back th a accused's deposit of £7. This was given to Snow, reducing the debt to £6 odd. When arrested at Geraldine, the accused told the constable he came from Queensland.
