MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD
The Mount Roskill Road Bo»rd met on Tuesday. Mr. G. E. Tansley presided, and Messrs. J. Peet. J. J. Preston. E. J- Herd, and S. Scarborough were also present.
The clerk reported the revenue for the year ended March 31, exclusive of loan money, was £7643. Repair: to the newpump cost £368. and this, with £349 transferred to the water loan, account, had increased the debit balance by £718. The increase in the valuations amounted to about £50,000. During the year 72 building permits had been issued and 49 new water connections made.
It was decided that •when the money market is easier and the next loan proposals are put before the ratepayers, the proposals shall include one of £1600 for work on Landscape Road, in conjunction with the Mount Eden Borough Council, which will spend an equal amount on the road. A aotificition to that effect was ordered to be sect to the council. Mr. J. W. McLaren offered to collect half the amount needed to purchase land to connect Rose Road with Crown Street if the board would find the other half. The beard will approach the Education Department, which owns the land, through Mr. V. Potter. M.P.. for a grant of the land. Legal advice is to be obtained as to the board's powers to make s by-law to prevent any person keeping in the district a zoo containing carnivorous animals.
