CANDIDATE AT NORTHCOTE.
DECISIONS OF PDBUC MEETING. A public meeting held at Northcote, last evening, in connection with the forthcoming muncipal election, was well attended. The Mayor Mr. A. E. Greenslade, was voted to the chair. Mr. O. A. Deuxberry, a candidate for the office of Mayor, outlined the principal features erf his eJecfioai platform, and answered several questions. The meeting unanimously pledged itself to do its utmost to secure the return of the candidate, and a committee was subsequently formed with this object. The meeting accorded its support to Mr. J. P. McPhail, the returning Mayor ! of Birkenhead, in his condidature for the i Auckland Hospital Board. A resolution , was also passed requesting the Mayor of I Northcote, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, to oon--1 test the Harbour Board seat for the I Boroughs, of Devonport, Birkenhead, and Northcote. Mr. Greenslade said he j would endeavour to accede to the wish of ; the meeting. i In order to ensure that a full number of I councillors for Northcote would be nomin- ! ated, the following were selected as suiti able candidates, from whom it was' i decided to request the electors to choose ; on election day:—Messrs. J. B. Tonar, ! J. Broady, A. Hurley, A. W. Smith (prejsent councillors), C. G: Hodirson, K I Smith, W. C. Smith, C. R. Fetrio, A. i G. H. Lyon, D. Bowles, jnmv, :W. K. A. Stewart.. R. 0. Brinsden, and I I W. H. Barnes.
