ROUGH WEATHER ON COAST
MANUKAU BAR UNWORKABLE.
FORECAST BY MR. WRAGGE.
Although the weather at Auckland has shown a decided improvement since Saturday, the conditions on the Manukau are still very severe. The Northern Company's steamer Rarawa, which was to have sailed for New Plymouth yesterday afternoon, was unable to cross the Manukau bar owing to a south-west gale. Her departure for New Plymouth has consequently been delayed until 10 a.m. to-day. The following weather forecast was issued by Mr. Clement L, Wragge at 730 p-m. yesterday:—High pressure is again asserting itself on the north-western coast of the North Island, while the retreating side of the second portion, of the disturbance, Telathon, affects eastern and southern district*. GALE AT LYTTELTON. -[BT TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHKIBTCHUHCH, Monday. A heavy north-east gale was experienced on Saturday at Lyttelton. The sea broke over Gladstone Pier at high tide, while at Sumner the tram service was interrupted for several hours owing to water being over the road in a number of places. Comparatively little damage was done. At Kaikoura fishing launches were washed up on the beach; but not seriously damaged. '
