MOUNT EDEN CLUB'S CARNIVAL.

The Mount Eden Swimming Club held its first carnival for the season in the Mount liaen Baths last evening. In spite of the inclement weather there was & fair attendance, and the events were closely contested, oS% the President's Handicap, *20yds.. from scratch, E. V. Cunnold put up a fine performance, for he conceded R. Bailey, who finished eecond, 245.. while L. ivroniela, the New Zealand champion la*st season, finished in third place. It was a good race. Y.M.C.A. BATH OPENED.

The swimming bath at the Y.M.C.A. -was officially opened by Mr. C. J. _ Tunks last evening, when a gymnasitc display under the direction of Mr. G. P. Christian was followed by swimming and diving events. The primming bath has been renovated, and its popularity increased by the introduction of tepid salt water. About 40 members of the Ponsonby Telegraphic Gallery were present, and competed in the swimming events. TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS. . Tho swimming sports for students attending the day classes at the Seddon Memorial Technical College were held yesterday afternoon at the Tepid Baths. Inuring the year 47. boys have gained silver medals and certificates for swimming continuously a distance of three miles, and 30 have gained bronze medals and certificates for swimming two miles. Four girls won silver medals and certificates for swimming two miles and 12 gained bronze medals and certificates for swimming one mile. -With the exception of those exempt for medical reasons, every boy in the school can Ewim at least 100 yards. The school championship shield for boys was won by the senior agriculture class, with an average distance of 4021 yards per pupil. The first-year championship shield for boys was secured by the first-year agriculture class with an average distance of 3257 yards per pupil. The school average for boys is 2213 yards. The school championship shield for girls. was won by the third-year business training class with an average distance of 1769 yds. The first-year championship shield for girls was won by the first-year business training class B. with an average distance of 516 yards. • The school average for girls is 605 yards. PARNELL CLUB SPORTS. The Parnell Swimming Club will hold its first carnival for the season at th© Point Resolution Baths to-morrow afternoon. Excellent entries have been received for the various events. Auckland's leading swimmers will compete, and close contests should be witnessed.

AKARANA SPORTS MEETING. The Akarana Amateur Cycle and Athletic Club will hold a sports carnival on the On®hunga Recreation Ground to-morrow. A good programme of events has been arranged.
