ATHLETICS.

CLUB FORMED AT PUKEKOHE. A meeting of those interested in the formation of an athletic club was held at Pukekohe recently, Mr. G. H. Armstrong presiding. It was decided to form a club and affiliate ■with the Northern Athletic Union. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. W. F. Maßsey, president, Mr. G. H. Armstrong; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. Clarke. Ivan A. Motion, Duncan Boulston. J. H. Webb, and C. K. Lawrie; committee, Messrs. B. Clarke, W. "Wright, J. Heywirth. W. T. Cumberland, A. F. Brown, J. F. Deane, W. T. Jones, W. Short, W. Crum, R. Fulton, J. G. Ward. J. Beatty, T. Marshall. L. - Brown, and F. N. Hewitt; secretary. Mr. A. B. Middlemiss; treasurer, Mr. J. H. Waters. Arrangements were made to hold a sports meeting on Saturday, January 22, and cash prizes amounting to £100" were allotted for running, cycling, chopping, and dancing events. The principal event on the programme is the Pukekohe Handicap, for which a prize of £20 is offered.
