INTERVENTION BY LEAGUE

FIERCE FIGHTING CONTINUES. A. and N.Z. COPENHAGEN. Nov. 17. A message from Kovno states that the League of Nations has invited the Lithuanian Government to instruct its army to adopt a defensive attitude. A similar Note has been despatched to Poland, asking the Government to influence General Zelignowski to discontinue his attacks. The Lithuanian general staff states that fierce fighting continues.
