STRIKES IN PORTUGAL.
REVOLUTIONARY CHARACTER.
CONFLICTING REPORTS. Australian and . N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed.' 11.30 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 7. Advices from Madrid state that a general strike, apparently of a revolutionary character, has broken out throughout Portugal Postal, telegraph, and telephone employees, and also naval reservists. raflwavmen. and dockers have all ceased work. The Portuguese Legation in London states that the strike reports are exaggerated. There is only a partial railway strike, and many " trains are running. There have ' been no disturbances.
