PEACE CONFERENCE PROMISE
HELP FOR BALKAN STATES. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. Oct. 7.
Considerable interest attaches to a con troversy between Mr. S. P. Spencer, Republican Senator for Missouri, and Mr. Wilson. Mr. Spencer alleges that the stenographic report of the eighth plenary session of the Supreme Council show; that the President promised Serbia and Ruff +Tiia American aid in the event of their being attacked in the future. Mr. Wilson sent Mr. Spencer a denial. Mr. J. A. Reed, Democratic Senator for Misrouri, then issued a statement pointiii out that the truth of the stenographic report was unquestioned, and challenged Mr. Wilson to produce his copy of the minutes of the meeting.
