SYDNEY WOOL SALE.
CAUTIOUS FOREIGN BUYERS. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Oct. 7.
Most of the wool so far offered in Sydney, from the Western and Northwestern districts, is indifferent in quality, disclosing the effects of the late drought. The bidding indicated a tendency among many buyers to hold back and watch the market. The fact that large stocks of the previous year's clips remain unsold in England has apparently operated to keep bidding down except for the best kinds. Australian buyers operated freely, but English, American, and French were less active, while Japanese held off. At the second day's sale poor classes showed about 10 per cent, decline compared with the opening of the sale.
