RETURNED SOLDIERS.
BAY OF PLENTY ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN COBBESPONDENT.;
TATJBANGA, Tuesday. At a general meeting of the Western Bay of Plenty - Returned Soldiers' Association, a motion was adopted expressing gratification that a Bill has been introduced in Parliament to provide financial assistance for the settlement and repatriation of returned soldiers, and urging the Government to " Speed up" the machinery to enable the applications of the remaining members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, South Africans, and veterans of other wars to be dealt with. Another motion was passed, that owing to the inability of. Asiatics and- Europeans to live together, that all Asiatics be- _ absolutely debarred from settling in the Dominion. Attention is to be drawn to the large number of Asiatics who have entered New Zealand during the current year. The association also unanimously ? passed a motion urging an increase in f pensions. Messrs. J. Graham - and GBaikie were appointed to fill vacancies on | the committee. ■_ The resignation of Mr. " -J W. C. Honsby from' the committee was. ''if received with" regret, and a motion ex- / : i pressing appreciation of his services was - >■ recorded.
