BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
OPENING MEETINGS TO-MORROW. The thirty-eighth annua} conference of the Baptist Union of New; Zealand ai;d the Baptist Missionary Society will be commenced in the" Auckland TaheFnaue to-morrow, and will be continued ' until Thursday, October 14, Delegates from all parte of the Dominion are.due to arrive to-morrow, and the day v.ill be occupied by preparatory committee meetings. In the evening a delegates' tea. win bo ioilowed by an open session of- the weekly Bible study- school conducted by the itev. J, W. Kemp,: who -will deal, with the Book of Joshua On Thursday evening the president'.of the union, the Rev. ». Wv Jenkin, of Wanganui, wU! de'iver his presidential address, and the chairman, tie Bey. H. Knowles. Kernpton, of Dim edin, -will also address the meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting a communion service -will be conducted bv the Rev. J., W. Kemp. . ' % On Friday a young people's demonstration will be held, and the Rer, A. W. Stuart will relate impressions of the Westhill Training Conference. An attrsrtrve musical, programme has been arrant: >.v the . young« people's choir and Sfrnruavschool scholars. It was proposed ta hold a picnic to' One Tree Hill on Saturday, but this may he abandoned, owing to the cessation of *- the tramway service. An interesting -series of meetings has b?en arranred for . the following week. Devotional meetings will be he'd in the Tabernacle each morning at nine o'clock, and '.business sessions will be N'd st ten o'clock and half-pgpfc two " o'ekcit dai'y. Collections for conference expenses and missionary -work will be taksn at each evening meeting.
