OBITUARY.
DEATH OF 010 COLONIST,
MR. RICHARD H. HUGHES.
Another of the early residents of Auckland has passed away- in the person of Mr. Richard Hemming Hughes, who died on Saturday at bis residence, Mount Eden, aged 78. Mr. Hughes, who was bern at Evesham, England, emigrated to NeW Zealand at the age of 21r, arriving with the Albert Land settlers in the sailing sKip John Duncan. After being for many rears in business, he was for.the last thirly years with the firm of Brown, Barrett and Go. Mr. Hughes -was closely associated wit'.i the temperance movement. He leaves six soils and two daughters, the sons bein? Mr. R. H. Hughes, of Whangape\. Dr. J. G. Hughes, Mr. J. A. Hughes, the Rev. H. B. Hughes, Mr. W. L. Hughes, and Mr. O. H. Hughes.
MRS 'T. P. MOODY. Mrs. T. P. Moody, nho died. at Whangarei recently at the age of 76, *Vas tp dido's? of. the late Mr. Thomas Pearspir Moody, who was well known as a mining engineer. She came to: New Zealand with her husband and uncle, the late Mr. R. W, Moody, of Auckland, sad lived in Auckland ' till 1868, when "they left for Australia., In 1878 Mr. -aria "Sirs- Mco«\V returned to New Zealand. Mr* - .Moody being appointed manager of trie Bay of Islands colliery. Sixteen years later they went to Whangarei, and Mr,, Mood v assumed charge of the Hikurangi' colliery. Mrs. Moody is survived by five daughters and two sons. * "
