HAVRE REACHES PORT.
END OF PERILOUS VOYAGE. A. and N.Z. NEWCASTLE, June 14. The steamer Havrq, which ran short of coal on a voyage from Dunedin to Newcastle, and had to bo taken in tow. arrived on Saturday night, and entered port at daybreak. Both tug 1 and tow were greeted by other steamers. The Havre's masts were stripped of the derricks, which were utilised as firewood to keep the wireless dynamo going. Captain Rule related that he had had an anxious time since leaving Dunedin. The ship encountered tempestuous weather, and at times the Havre threatened to turn turtle.
