IMMIGRATION POLICY.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER.
- SYSTEM OF NOMINATION. DOMESTIC HELP PROBLEM. [Br TELEGRAM!. —OWN COERSSPONDEXT.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. Thy necessity for a' sound immigration policy was emphasised by the Hon. »v. Nosvorthy ;,t 'the opening of -the Waikato Winter Show w>dav. "He said that a total of 2122 immigrants from Britain nad recently arrived. Of these 1575 had been nominated by relatives in the Dominion and' 547 had been assisted by the Imperial authorities. Many more were coming as soon as shipping facilities were available. The Minister added that he believed the system of nomination was the best of all. Under it they would get the best and most suitable class of immigrants who had friends in the Dominion, and the newcomers would bo assisted in making a start in the country. lie also reforred to the scarcity of domestic help in the cities, and said he was endeavouring as Minister in charge of Immigration to alleviate the position as far as possible.
