MORE MONEY REQUIRED.
The "drive" arranged by the Auckland Olympic Committee for yesterday m connection with the fund to send the Dominion's represenatives to Antwerp did not produce the result anticipated. The intention to parade two caged lions, with costumed collectors, had to.be abandoned owing to the City Council giving notice yesterday morning that tho lions could not be exhibited in the streets. Then came the heavy downpour of rain, which interfered with tho efforts of the three solitary canvassers who worked the various offices." The sealed collecting tins will '>c opened this morning, but tho amount re quired hw not been secured, and a, further effort will have to ho made. The team will leave Auckland by tram on Monday evening, when the Mayor, Mr. J. H. (tunson will attend at the railway (station to hid farewell to Miss Walrond, Messrs. ('!. Davidson, 0. C. Hadfield, and C. D. Walrond (honorary trainer). It is the intention of the Auckland Olympic Committee to give the representatives a farewell at the Chamber of Commerce on .Monday, at 3 p.m. Of tho sum of £1750 necessary to cover the expenses of the team, some £1400 has been raised. It is the intention of the Mayor <,f Wellington to bid farewell to the New Zealanders at the Wellington Town Hall next Thursday.
