At the tournament of the Taranaki Boxing Association, Thompson (Toko) defeated Richardson (New Plymouth), and Frank Brown defeated Wiriki in ten rounds, professional bouts. LLOYD DEFEATS WADDV. IBT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPUIOEST.] WHANGAREI, Friday. The contest organised by the Whangarci Boxing Association between Albert Lloyd, champion heavy-weight of Australasia, and E. Waddy, champion heavy-weight of West and South Australia, took place at the Whsngarei Town Hall to-night. The fight, which was for a purse of £250, lasted for 16 rounds, victory going to Lloyd. Lloyd's weight was 12st Ulb and Waddy> 12st 10lb. uloyd wore a bandage on his right knee,, which obviously gave him trouble in the thirteenth round. Ho fought very cleverly, and .Vadily increased the points in his favour until the referee declared him the winner. ? Karly in the tight it was apparent that Waddy was manoeuvring for a knock-out, and at times he seemed to bo within an ace of achieving his purpose. Lloyd, however, had his measure, and the verdict in favour of Lloyd was well received. Mr. W. Palmer was referee.
