THE FARMERS' UNION.

DECISIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE. The provincial executive of the Farmers' Union met last evening, the president, Mr. J. Boddie, presiding. In respect to a request by the Te Awamutu sub-provincial executive for support in protesting against the personnel of the committee appointed to control the supp'ies of benzine in the district and urging that the farming interests be represented on the committee, a resolution was passed that in the opinion of the executive the control of benzine had proved so unsatisfactory that the Government be called upon to withdraw it. A letter was received from the Minister for Lands stating that a block of land at Te Kauwhata subject to floods was being surveyed to determine its suitability for settlement. Messrs. J. Boddie and A. A. Ross were appointed*to represent the executive at the forthcoming meat conference in Wellington. A resolution from the Te Awamuta Chamber of Commerce requesting support in urging the Government to provide for the construction of light, narrow gauge railways was referred to the animal conference. In reference to a request from the Matamata branch that the Board of Trade be asked to alter the system of allocating the sugar supply, it was decided to reply that the executive was opposed to Government interference in respect to the supply of any commodity.
