SEVERAL SCHEMES SUGGESTED. I.BT TELEGRAPH.— association.] CHEISTCHDRCH. Tuesday. The Christchurch City Council last night refused an application from a responsible body of citizens for permission to erect a war memorial column i.i Cathedral Square. A motion that a plebiscite vote be taken on several memorial proposals now under consideration was not seconded. The Mayor and several councillors strongly urged general support for the soldiers' hall of memories scheme.
