GAS WORKERS' DISPUTE. INCONVENIENCE TO PUBLIC. I A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Dec. 8. The gas workers' strike is seriously interfering with domestic life, and is handicapping many commercial enterprises, rendering idle employees. The enginedrivera and firemen of the gas companies have now joined the strike. SYDNEY SHORT OS BEES. EFFECT OF BREWERY STRIKE. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Dec. 8. Unless an early settlement is effected in the brewery workers' strike, of which there j is no present indication, a beer famine is threatened. There was not too much available on Saturday. Bottled beer was reserved for counter service in order to make the stocks linger out. QUEENSLAND WHARF WORKERS. "GO-SLOW" POLICY ADOPTED. A. and N.Z. BRISBANE, Dec. 8. The waterside workers at Townsville decided to adopt the "go-slow" policy until granted an increase of Id an hour on special cargoes.
