LONDON WOOL SALES.
MERINOS ADVANCE 5 PER CENT CROSSBREDS CHEAPER. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Dec. 4. The eighth series of Government wool sales commenced Jast night with good competition from an average attendance of buyers. Prices of j Merinos advanced 5 per cent., fine i and medium crossbreds were unchanged. Coarse crossbreds were 5 per cent, cheaper compared with closing rates of last series. A total of 154,000 bales of short wools are available for the series, of which 65,000 are New Zealand ; also 60,000 sold on description, of which 13,000 are New Zealand. CLEARING THE DOMINIONS. ACCUMULATION OF WOOL. LONDON, Nov. 23. The wool correspondent of The Times says that, including new clips, there are 770,000 bale? that must be removed from Now Zealand, and 2.680,000 bales from, Australia. The Government hopes to remove 60,000 bales a month from New Zealand and 240,000 bales a month from Australia, It is hoped to clear Australia by next October. The correspondent adds that the only way of dealing with such enormous quantities of wool is the development of provincial sales.
